and if you do Love L.A.

BooYahhhhhh Baby

You know what i'm talking about....

i'm not gonna get started here
& Pimp for LA & i don't think
that i will come to LA's defense
not in any way (except maybe to agree)

i wanna hear from you people
you live all over the world
some of you have been to LA
some of you haven't, but still
think about it at odd times -
like right now

so whaddya think ?

Having just spent a week in Florida I must confess I prefer east coast white sand beaches to the busy-ness of the west coast. LA is fun to visit on rare occasions. Clearwater Beach is fun to visit 24/7/365.

I once saw that film at a house party, after everyone else had gone to bed. Needless to say, I was in a confused state anyway...it made quite the impression. Laughing

...that was/is a good movie -

there are so many movies that feature L.A.

Pulp fiction jumps out
an old favorite of mine is "Where the Day takes You"
interesting movie - worth a look
and it does "feature L.A."

As most of my friends know, LA is my favourite city in the world, a city I got to know and first visit because of this very MB and the friendships I formed through it.

The interesting thing about LA (for me at least) is how familiar it felt probably because it had always been present in my some way albeit on tv, film and in books. On my first trip out there a decade ago I often squealed out loud when I spotted things in the flesh. I was lucky enough that another MN old-timer took me on a Vertigo tour of San Fran too.

There's something just magical about LA, the pink sunsets, the way the light reflects off the Pacific and smothers the whole city in the most exceptional light. As teen I remember reading in a book about how the light was different there, and I never knew what was meant until I got there. At times i felt like Dorothy visiting OZ as the whole of LA seems to be in technicolor and my life in London in black & white.

I spent a month in Santa Monica last summer at every second was wonderful. I cycled to the beach most days, saw my friends, ate delicious food and just enjoyed pottering about and feeling free. I'm already looking forward to my next trip there, and one day, I hope to stay there forever.

Anyway! Jerry! Hi!! I was going to be in Mexico later this summer but it looks like that plan is on hold as I'll be NYC-ing instead. Hope all is well with you!

Nice to see you too!

I've just moved house, sadly not to LA but I can see the sea from my bedroom and sitting room. It's glorious, as are the sunsets, I can almost pretend it's LA.

Did I mention I love LA? Rolling Eyes Laughing

LA's also got too many people and too many fuckin' cars. Laughing You pay a nasty price for the weather. But I'm still here for now... might move to the northwest in a few years.
